We were asked to install matching spandrels to an existing 18th Century frame. After the painting was cleaned, it was discovered that the upper corners had originally been blank. We needed to incorporate the frame design into the spandrels.

The rabbet was lined with an 1/8" filet that was pinned in place.

The spandrels were then pinned in pace and linen tape was applied to the rabbet joint.

The exposed lip of the 1/8" spacer was finished to match the existing frame finish.

We needed to recreate the angel in the existing frame onto the spandrel.

The final touch ups were applied.
